Curriculum Requirements


The Music Industry Concentration is designed: to acquaint students with the concepts and methodologies of the music industry; to give students an introduction to digital music production technology; to provide specialized career preparation for the contemporary music profession; and to focus on the legal, financial  and ethical aspects of a career in music. The curriculum provides educational experiences that integrate skills and methodologies necessary to manage the artistic, financial, and ethical challenges facing the musician of today.

This concentration offers two separate tracks: Business, for those interested in combining music performance with knowledge of business finance and marketing; and Media/Communications, with a focus on current trends in mass communications and related technology.

Instrumental or vocal audition required by Department of Music for degree program acceptance.

1. 124 Semester Hours:


Complete a minimum of 124 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better. The last 30 hours must be completed at NCCU. Students must repeat ‘D’ and ‘F’ grades in major courses.

Complete General Education Curriculum  required by the university as detailed on the four-year course of study.

Capstone project in MUSL 4900  replaces Senior Recital requirement.
