Theatre, Theatre Communications Concentration, B.A.

Curriculum Requirements


This unique concentration provides an academic hybrid for the student who is interested in both Theatre and Mass Communication. The concentration blends elements of theatre and media production.

1. 124 Semester Hours:


Complete a minimum of 124 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better. Student must successfully repeat ‘D’ and ‘F’ grades in major courses.  The last 30 hours must be completed at NCCU.

2. General Education Requirement:


Freshman and sophomore years: complete General Education Curriculum  required by the university as detailed on the four-year course of study. Students must have a ‘C’ or better in ENG 1110  and ENG 1210 .

Program Notes:


Each major must fulfill the following:

  • Audition for at least one show annually
  • (Performance concentration majors must audition for every show)
  • Work in a technical capacity for at least one show annually
  • Stage manage at least one show before graduating
  • Work with costume or make-up design for at least one show before graduating
  • Attend all workshops
