HIST 2310 - History of Hip Hop (Comprehensive) (3) Prerequisites: HIST 1540 The Black Experience Since 1865 or HIST 3520 African American History Since 1865 or SOCI 2300 Social Problems . HIST 1540 The Black Experience Since 1865 and SOCI 2300 Social Problems can be taken by Freshmen and Sophomores and is part of the GEC course requirement for Social Science. The course HIST 3520 African American History Since 1865 can be taken by Juniors and Seniors as an upper level course. Hip Hop History examines the cultural phenomenon through its development, history, communication style, dance form, music, and artistic process. Throughout the course students will explore the dynamics of race, gender, youth, and class. The course will employ various sources for analysis and information including: videos, commercials, movies, songs and other multimedia sources.
