FIN 3400 - Principles of Insurance (3) Prerequisites: FIN 3200 or consent of the instructor. A study of the basic principles of insurance and the theory of risk. Emphasis is placed on understanding the concepts of risk-sharing, risk reduction, the characteristics of various insurance contracts, and hedging with derivatives. Discussion also covers personal finance decisions, diversification of risk, and other current issues. All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.
