Recreation Therapy Concentration Requirements
1. A minimum of 39 semester hours:
A minimum of 39 semester hours of graduate recreation courses with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. 4. Successful completion of the comprehensive written examination.
5. Admission to candidacy
6. Successful completion of thesis or research project and oral examination.
7. Completion of the core requirements for the Recreation Therapy Concentration:
Complete nine (9) hours:
Complete nine (9) hours in a cognate area approved by the department chairperson of advisor. Students may be required:
Students may be required to take undergraduate prerequisites if they do not have an undergraduate degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies. Required Core Content Courses:
Special note:
15 credit hours of Recreational Therapy coursework is needed for the North Carolina Recreational Therapy License to Practice. In order to sit for licensure, the student must have taken the following undergraduate courses:
- BIOL 1610
- RECR 2250
- BIOL 1300
- PSY 3100
- RECR 4140
