Recreation Administration: Parks and Recreation Management, B.S.

A degree in Recreation Administration with a concentration in Parks and Recreation Management prepares students for a career in administering the various tasks associated with recreation facilities and parks.  Students in the Parks and Recreation Management concentration are trained to assume professional leadership management roles in a variety of leisure service areas.  Students receive a strong municipal, military, and not for profit leisure service agencies.  Coursework is established to enable the student to effectively provide diverse recreation and leisure services to a wide variety of populations.

Career Opportunities

Parks and Recreation Management is a challenging and exciting professional field with employment opportunities in a wide variety of leisure service areas.  Employment positions exist as resort recreational directors, club managers, park superintendents, supervisors, administrators and consultants in public, military, commercial, church recreational settings, and administer programs and services in municipal and county park and recreation departments, state and national agencies and employee and corporate recreation service delivery programs.

< Students must apply for admission into the Recreation Administration Program after the completion of RECR 1000 , RECR 2120 , RECR 2230 , and RECR 2250 .

Application requires a minimum 2.0 overall GPA with a minimum 2.25 GPA in Recreation Administration Professional Courses and two letters of recommendation.

< All Recreation Management Concentration electives must be approved by your advisor.

> Students are required to be senior status, have permission of their advisor, and have completed RECR 4625  prior to enrolling in the RECR 4630 .  Students must be in good standing and have passed all required courses prior to internship placement.
