Early Childhood Education, Child Development and Family Relations Concentration, B.S.


Curriculum Requirements


The degree in Early Childhood Education, concentration Child Development and Family Relations (non-licensure track) prepares students to work effectively with children and families across the life span in diverse cultural contexts. In addition, students successfully completing the program may seek employment in pre-school/daycare settings, program directors in preschool settings, home-based early intervention programs, Head Start, community developmental day programs, such as Boys and Girls Club and YMCA.

1. 120 Credit Hours:


Complete a minimum of 120 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0. A minimum of 30 hours must be completed at NCCU.

2. General Education Requirement:(must have a ‘D’ or better)


Freshman and sophomore years: complete the General Education Curriculum  (GEC) Program.

< * Prior to enrolling in CDFR 4620 , students must have successfully completed CDFR 2900 CDFR 3210   , and CDFR 3610   , or their respective equivalents, with a grade of “C” or better. This requirement must be met regardless of a student’s grade point average.

Note:

All students who are majoring in Child Development and Family Relations must have an updated CPR/First Aid Certification for infants and children, current TB tests, and Criminal Record Check issued by the Department of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE).  These are required for any practicum and field experience.
