The Department of Mathematics and Physics offers programs of study leading to baccalaureate degrees in mathematics and physics. Academic programs allow considerable flexibility for the student (in consultation with an advisor) to work out a plan of study consistent with the student’s career objectives and interests. Programs can be tailored to provide preparation for graduate study, employment in industry or government, and licensure for secondary school teaching. Each degree program offers an optional concentration (Mathematics with Computational and Engineering Mathematics CEMA, and Physics with Engineering Physics, EPHY) designed to prepare students for engineering oriented careers. Additional programs enable students to pursue a two-year pre-engineering program, a dual degree in physics and engineering, or a post-baccalaureate certificate in computer programming. A minor is available in mathematics, physics, or computer science.
