MATH 1080 - Mathematics for Liberal Arts & Social Sciences (3) Pre- or Co-requisite: Placement by University Testing. This course provides a general survey of mathematical topics that are useful in our contemporary world. This course is designed to show students how mathematics can be applied to their lives in interesting, enjoyable, and meaningful ways. The course has a variety of topics in liberal arts mathematics; problem solving and critical thinking, set theory, logic, number theory and the real number system, algebra, consumer mathematics, and financial management. This course is also designed to help diverse students, with different backgrounds and career plans, to succeed.
