HIST 3072 - Women in the African Diaspora (3) This course is a comparative study of women in the African Diaspora. The course explores the sociocultural constructions of race and the processes of acculturation and resistance among people of African descent in the ‘New World’ and the ‘Old World’. We will focus on women in Africa and its Diaspora communities in the Caribbean, Latin America, and North America. Part of this course pays close attention to the leadership strategies of women in the African Diaspora providing opportunities for students to adapt these models for their personal development.
