HIST 4630 - The African Presence in Latin America (3) Prerequisites: At least one Latin American survey course and permission of the instructor. An examination of the role of African peoples in Latin American history and culture from the period of exploration to the present, with special attention to the Portuguese-Spanish slave trade, conditions of slavery, resistance movements, abolition struggles, cultural influences, the integration process, and present racial relations.
