PHRD 8100 - Drug Discovery (3) Pre- or Co-requisite: or with the consent of the course director. This course will provide an overview of the fundamental processes and scientific approaches involved in early phase drug discovery as practiced in the pharmaceutical industry. Major classes of drug targets including kinases, G-protein coupled receptors, proteases and nuclear receptors will be introduced in detail. Topics related to target identification/target validation, screening technologies, and medicinal chemistry/chemoinformatics approach to drug optimization will be discusssed.
