Curriculum Requirements
To meet the needs of the recent growth in the sport industries, sport managers are in demand. This option, which includes either a minor in Business Administration or Sport Coaching, prepares students for career opportunities in sport fitness facilities, professional and collegiate sport teams, exercise and fitness/swim/golf/racquet clubs, municipal/high school/college/corporate/commercial intramurals and sport clubs, sport information, public/nonprofit/private sport agencies, and marketing sporting goods. This option culminates in a 10 week/400-hour internship, a practical work experience at an approved site with expert supervision. Through this experience, students gain managerial and administrative skills as well as valuable contacts for future employment. The course of study provides students with the prerequisite knowledge necessary to pass the National Recreation and Parks Association Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) Examination.

<Students must apply for admission into the Recreation Administation Program after the completion of RECR 1000 , RECR 2120 , RECR 2230 , RECR 2250 , and RECR 2900. Application requires a minimum 2.0 overall GPA with a minimum 2.25 GPA in Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Studies Professional Courses and two letter of recommendation.
<The Recreational Sport Management Concentration requires a Business Minor. The Business Minor coursework is determined by the School of Business. Nine credit hours of GEC also serve as the Business Minor Requirement. These nine hours are completed an additional Recreational Sport Management Concentration Required Courses.
>Students are required to be senior status, have permission of their advisor, and have completed RECR 4625 prior to enrolling in the RECR 4630 . Students are not to take other courses when completing the internship course.

Many courses listed in the first year of this plan are specific to this degree program and may not fulfill degree requirements for other programs at the University. Students are advised that changing their program of study from this major to another major, after the first year, can extend the time until graduation by a semester or more.
Program Notes:
Students who wish to major in the Recreation Administration Program must have an overall grade point average of 2.25 and apply to be admitted into the program. Applicants must be at least a sophomore and have completed the following courses: RECR 1000 , RECR 2120 , and one additional 2000 level RECR course with a GPA average of 2.5 or better. Students are required to be senior status, have permission of their advisor, and have completed RECR 4625 prior to enrolling in the RECR 4630 . Students must be in good standing and have passed all required courses prior to internship placement, which consists of a minimum 400-hour, 10 consecutive week field placement experience in recreation/leisure service agency.
