Curriculum Requirements


This program is designed to enable students who have a four year degree to obtain a BSN in nursing in fourteen - fifteen months. The student will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to function as professional nurses in a variety of health care settings. Throughout the curriculum the student will obtain competencies for professional nursing practice including critical thinking, decision making, communication, leadership, and high-tech procedures to respond to changing needs and environments in today’s health care settings. Nursing Courses are not accepted as transfer credit. Students who were not successful in other nursing programs are not eligible for admission to nursing at NCCU. If students failed one nursing course, they are not eligible for the accelerated nursing option. 

1. 126 Semester Hours:


Complete a minimum of 126 semester hours with a cumulative average of 80 in all nursing courses for success.  Students must have a GPA of 3.0 on their previous four year degree to qualify for the nursing program.  Students who fail a nursing course, will have the opportunity to repeat the course only once.

2. General Education Requirement:


***All General Education Courses Must Be Completed Prior to Admission to Nursing***

Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 in math/science courses. There is a limited time for repeating these courses for consideration in the nursing program. Students can repeat a Math or Science course only once. More than two failures in math or Science will result in ineligibility for admission to nursing.

All general education requirements must be complete prior to admission to the nursing program. GEC requirements are generally transferred from the first degree

Students must complete a pre-assessment exam successfully prior to admission.Pre-Nursing Courses - Complete after enrollment.

5. Additional Requirements


Demonstrate proficiency on selected clinical skills and proficiency in the clinical settings.

Program Notes:


Students must complete all science required courses with a “C” or better prior to enrolling in nursing courses. The student must have a math/Science cumulative GPA of 2.8. Greater than two failures in Math and/or Science results in ineligibility for nursing admission.

Students cannot progress to the next level course until all prior level courses are complete
