  • CRJU 4305 - Law, Evidence and Testimony in Computer Forensics (3)


    Prerequisites: COMP 2110  and COMP 2115 . Provides the student with an understanding of factors related to the law, evidence and expert testimony in computer forensics. Students will demonstrate ability to understand their function with both civil and criminal cases, the burden of proof required in each, and prosecutorial and judicial duties and responsibilities.

    Prerequisites: CRJU 2250  and CRJU 2450 . This course will analyze the role of law in corrections including substantive rights of prisoners, prisoner remedies, procedural rights of prisoners, the legal authority and responsibility of correctional agencies and the restoration of offenders’ rights.

    The course will provide the student with an understanding of criminal law, procedure, and the court processes. The elements of offenses as well as defenses, constitutional and others, and processes from detention to arrest, pre-trial, trial and post-trial will be analyzed.

  • CRJU 4600 - Senior Seminar (3)


    Criminal Justice seniors with permission of the instructor. This is the capstone course for criminal justice majors, which requires students to demonstrate, through reflection and critical analysis, their ability to integrate subject matter in the department’s core areas of study. This student-centered course will require students to integrate their knowledge and skills to analyze a contemporary issue in criminal justice and provide a corrective course of action, which incorporates a nexus between theory and practice and related policy.

  • CRJU 4700 - Criminal Justice CO-OP (1 to 12)


    Prerequisites: Minimum of 75 earned credit hours and permission from the department chair. This course is designed to provide students with an opportunity to have a work experience aligned with their career interest. The course varies between 10 and 40 hours per week at an approved agency. A prospectus is required prior to enrollment in the course.

  • HLS 3800 - Countering Violent Extremism in Rural Jails and Prisons (3)


    This course provides a background in threat group radicalization and recruitment tactics.  It also presents information on how to gather, categorize, and develop plans for intervening in the recruitment and radicalization of new members for threat groups within the confines of rural jails and prisons.  It focuses on rural correctional facilities as unique breeding grounds for threat group recruitment and radicalization, examines the processes by which recruitment and radicalization occur, and discusses methods for strengthening the information gathering and sharing process.

The course offers a framework for studying dance cultures from diverse geographic areas and historical time periods.     This course teaches the fundamentals of West African dance with accompanying songs, music, and cultural contexts in which these dances originate.  The course specifically offers knowledge and performance skills of traditional dance forms and offers critical analysis of how these dances interact with cultural, social, occupational, and religious aspects that contribute to creating them.

    Dance Foundations provides a dance overview and foundation for students in exploring basic techniques in ballet, modern, and jazz, as well as basic anatomical awareness that is pervasive for dancers.  Gaining movement skills in coordination and balance, flexibility, and spatial awareness is the focus of this course.

    Dance Repertory is designed for the individual performer to build performance skills and stagecraft through learning, rehearsing and performing dance works in a variety of styles.  It also assists the student in developing skills for auditioning, directing a rehearsal, and working in a group as a preparation for the career of a professional performer.

    This course focuses on the principles of anatomy and kinesiology as it relates to dance technique, performance, lifestyle, and injury prevention.  Emphasis is placed on the structure and function of the muscular and skeletal systems.  Movement analysis, conditioning principles, and basic nutrition will also be covered.

  • DRAM 2022 - Hip Hop Theatre (3)


    This course examines the influence of Hip Hop music, dance, visual art, and philosophy on the content and character of contemporary American drama and culture.  Thus, Hip Hop Theatre is at the core of this exploration.  Primary considerations are identifying this “new” aesthetic; recognizing its origins and major players; and analyzing its convergence of art, culture, politics and community.  The origins and history of Hip Hop as well as its performance elements and cultural and political significance will be explored with the African American culture as a backdrop.

  • DRAM 4510 - Study Abroad for Theatre Arts (3 - 6)


    Prerequisites: By permission of the instructor. This course is designed for the theatre student who is prepared to study abroad for the summer.  The course explores the origins, developments, characteristics, and style of theatre in a selected country.  The study abroad experience allows the student to analyze the history, politics, society, and culture of the selected country and its corresponding impact and reflection on theatre.  The course prepares students to communicate their growth in intercultural competence as an artist, as a candidate for graduate school, and as a professional.
