Theatre, General Theatre Concentration, B.A.


Curriculum Requirements


Students entering the General Theatre Concentration are trained as well-rounded artists to work in multifaceted areas of professional theatre.  Through academic exposure and production experience, student graduate with knowledge in areas of dramatic literature, performance, and management.

1. 124 Semester Hours:


Complete a minimum of 124 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better. Student must successfully repeat ‘D’ and ‘F’ grades in major courses.  The last 30 hours must be completed at NCCU.

2. General Education Requirement:


Freshman and sophomore years: complete General Education Curriculum  required by the university as detailed on the four-year course of study. Students must have a ‘C’ or better in ENG 1110  and ENG 1210 .

Each major must fulfill the following:

  • Audition for at least one show annually (Performance concentration majors must audition for every show)
  • Work in a technical capacity for at least one show annually
  • Stage manage at least one show before graduating
  • Work with costume or make-up design for at least one show before graduating
  • Attend all workshops
