Curriculum Requirements


1. 125 Credit Hours:


Complete a minimum of 125 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0. A minimum of 30 hours must be completed at NCCU.

2. General Education Requirement:(must have a ‘D’ or better)


Freshman and sophomore years: complete the General Education Curriculum  (GEC) Program.

All students who are majoring in Child Development and Family Relations must have an updated CPR/First Aid Certification for infants and children, current TB tests, and Criminal Record Check issued by the Department of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE).  These are required for any practicum and service learning field experiences.

< Students must take and pass the departmental competency exam with a score of 70 or better prior to enrolling in FCSC 4620  (Practicum in Human Development).* Students who maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average in their major courses will be exempt from the competency exam.

< * Prior to enrolling in FCSC 4620   , students must have successfully completed FCSC 2810   , FCSC 2900   , FCSC 3210   , and FCSC 3610   , or their respective equivalents, with a grade of “C” or better. This requirement must be met regardless of a student’s grade point average. Students who have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in their major courses but have not successfully completed the above indicated courses (FCSC 2810   , FCSC 2900   , FCSC 3210    and FCSC 3610   ) will not be allowed to enroll in FCSC 4620   .
