I. Admission Requirements
For unconditional admission to the graduate program, the student must present at least 30 semester hours of “B” work in Mathematics and Computer Science, including full sequence of calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations. Students who do not meet these requirements may gain conditional admission with a plan to complete a course of study to rectify any deficiencies within one semester of admission into the program.
Core Requirement - 6-9 hours
Electives - 15 hours
12 semester hours chosen from any MATG offering, except MATG 5900
Pure Mathematics Concentration - 9 hours
Applied Mathematics Concentration - 9 hours
Foreign Language Requirements - 0-3 hours
Successful completion of a reading proficiency examination in a foreign language or an examination in statistical concepts, or demonstration of proficiency in a modern computer programming language or completion of an approved graduate statistics course
Total credit Hours for both Concentrations - 33-36 hours
III. Exit Requirements
- A minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate mathematics courses with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
- Successful completion of a comprehensive written examination.
- Successful completion of an oral examination associated with the thesis.
