Curriculum Requirements
The Sacred Music Concentration is designed to provide preparation and skill development, both academically and musically, for students planning to organize, direct, and provide music for a church music program.
- Complete a minimum of 124 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better. The last 30 hours must be completed at NCCU.
- Complete the General Education Curriculum (GEC) Program. See “General Education Curriculum ” section in this catalog.
Major requirements:
Major requirements must be passed with a cumulative grade point average of 2.70 or better for all music courses. Additional Requirements:
Elective courses may be selected from other courses within the department with the consent of the instructor.
- Enrollment in an applied music primary course every semester.
- Enrollment in a musical ensemble every semester.
- Enrollment in workshops/recitals every semester.
- Piano Proficiency Examination, with passing grades in all five areas of keyboard skill.
