Public Health Education, B.S. (Online Flight Path Program)

Curriculum Requirements


NCCU offers a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Education Flight Path Program.  Admission application for the public health education program is located at NCCU Online: Flight Path Programs:   https://online.nccu.edu/programs/undergraduate-degrees/bachelors-in-public-health-education/.  NCCU Online:  BS in Public Health Education Flight Path Program is designed for working adults (aged 25 and older) who are seeking to complete their undergraduate degree.

The online Public Health Education BS prepares students for careers as health educators in various settings (e.g., public health departments, voluntary health agencies, healthcare organizations, corporate worksites, and community-based organizations). Students take a common core of courses and complete further study in the behavioral, social, and biological sciences; education; communication; and public health. The PHE degree requires 120 total credit hours, with 35 hours of general education courses, 22 hours of cognate requirements, 12 hours of lower-level health education courses, 42 hours of health courses, and 9 hours of electives.

Keep in mind that most students will transfer in at least 24 credit hours. Transfer credits may significantly reduce your required hours to graduate.

1. 120 Credit Hours:


Complete a minimum of 120 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better. The last 30 hours must be completed at NCCU.

2. General Education Requirements - 35 credit hours

Elective courses - 9 credit hours

Four- Year Curriculum Plan


All the courses are offered as mini sessions (8-week session, except for Summer School).  The curriculum is designed for the working adults to take only two courses per mini session for a total of four courses per semester (except for summer sessions).  Thus, students are encouraged to take courses during summer sessions.  Listed below is the suggested four-year curriculum plan.

†    Continuing students that have not yet begun the language sequence are governed by this requirement. If the language sequence was begun prior to Fall 2015, the student must complete through level III of a Modern Foreign Language.
