Curriculum Requirements:
The undergraduate courses in the B.S. Biomedical Sciences degree in the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences are designed to provide a basic program for the training and development of prospective biologist, including students interested in careers in fundamental research, biotechnology, and teaching as well as those planning to enter such applied fields as medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, physical therapy and physician’s assistants. 1. 120 Semester Hours:
Minimum of 120 semester hours. The last 30 semester hours must be completed at NCCU. Students must repeat ‘D’ and ‘F’ grades in major courses with no grade lower than “C” in any biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics course. 2. General Education Requirement:
Freshman and Sophomore years: complete the General Education Curriculum (GEC). Science and Mathematics courses required for the major satisfy GEC science and mathematics requirements. 3. Program Requirements

Departmental requirements, 31 credit hours in core curriculum (must have a ‘C’ or better):
The first three courses must be completed in the sequence given, with a grade of “C” or better, before any other Biology courses, required or elective, may be taken. 4. Elective Requirements:
Must have a ‘C’ or better: Complete minimum 10-11 hours (10 if the student chooses MATH 2010 , and MATH 2011 if the student chooses MATH 2400 or BIOL 4200 ) including three courses taken from three categories of required electives as listed below: Four-Year Curriculum Plan in Biomedical Sciences

* Core Curriculum Courses - 30 (not including the science courses that are in the required course list)
** For those students interested in medical school, it is strongly recommended to complete PSY 2100 and SOCI 2100

= Required courses in Chemistry (16), Physics (8), and Mathematics (9-10) - 33-34 @ BIOL 4200 or MATH 2010 could be taken in lieu of MATH 2400
