Curriculum Requirements


The Nutrition and Dietetics major is designed to give students an instructional foundation in nutrition, dietetics, and foods while preparing them for entry-level positions in dietetics and nutrition. The program is offered fully through NCCU Online and is a 100% distance education program. The dietetics major at NCCU is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606-6995, (312)899-0040 ext 5400. http://www.eatright.org/ACEND.

1. 120 Credit Hours:


Complete a minimum of 120 semester hours. The last 30 hours must be completed at NCCU. Students must repeat ‘D’ and ‘F’ grades in all major courses.

2. General Education Requirement:


Students may place into MATH 1200  or take MATH 1000  and MATH 1100  in succession.  A grade of ‘C’ or better should be earned in MATH 1200

To earn a verification statement, students must:

      a.        Satisfy all degree requirements and be in good standing with the University

      b.        Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and complete all major coursework with a grade of “C” or better

      c.         Satisfactorily meet all KRDN competencies

      d.        Score a minimum of an 80% on the program competency exam
