Overview

The Graduate Program in Online Instructional Design focuses on the development of present and future. “Technology Trainers & Problem-Solvers” in Industry, Entrepreneurial Enterprises, and Organizations. These visionary “Technology Instructors & Consultants” are prepared to deliver leadership, instruction, and problem-solving in face to face, blended, and/or virtual learning environments for Professional Development and Training. Candidates develop expertise in E-Learning Engineering, E-Learning Measurement, the implementation of Innovative Online Learning Models, and the design and deployment of E-Learning Content.

I. Admission Requirements


  1. A bachelor’s degree from a recognized or accredited institution;
  2. A minimum 2.75 GPA overall at the undergraduate level. Prospective candidates with a GPA between 2.5 and 2.749 must earn a minimum grade point average of 2.75 or a 3.0 average for the last four semesters of study for the bachelor’s degree;
  3. Two letters of recommendation submitted by persons who are knowledgeable about the candidate’s teaching or work experience, (preferably those who have worked in supervisory role with the applicant and who have direct knowledge of applicant);
  4. A personal interview with members of the Faculty (either face to face or via virtually);
  5. Official transcripts; and
  6. A copy of valid NCDPI “A” Teaching License for candidates seeking the NCDPI 077 Masters-Level Instructional Technology Specialist-Computers Licensure (88077) and the NCDPI Masters-Level 079 Technology Endorsement (88079).

II. Program Requirements


Educational Technology-Online (Master of Arts Degree): [39 Hours Total]


Core Courses (for the M.A. Degree) - 36 Hours


Total Credits: 39 Hours


III. Exit Requirements


  1. Successful completion of the Masters Written Examination.
  2. Successful presentation of the Comprehensive Program Graduation E-Portfolio.
  3. Successful completion of the SOE Program Online Unit Assessment System.
  4. Successful Completion of 39 credits/hours (to meet all NCDPI-Instructional Technology Facilitator (ITF) requirements for Masters-Level Licensure).
  5. Successful passing grade of “B” or higher with no more than one grade of “C” in all courses attempted.
  6. Successful completion of a 3-credit hour practicum/internship.
