Curriculum Requirements
This Minor in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a 21 credit hours program designed to expose students to the use of GIS within a variety of different applications. GIS will be used as a problem solving tool to spatially map and analyze a variety of different phenomena. GIS is used in government, business and academia by social scientists, biologist, environmental scientists, historians, urban planners and educators. Knowledge of GIS and its applications makes graduates very competitive in the job market, making Minor in Geographic Information Systems valuable addition to any major.
1. 21 Semester Hours:
Complete a minimum of 21 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better. All hours must be completed at NCCU. Students much achieve a minimum grade of “C” in all courses used to satisfy requirements for the Minor in Geographic Information Systems. For the Minor in Geographic Information Systems students are required to complete: required geography courses (9 credit hours); applied course electives in Geographic Techniques (9 credit hours) and one upper level geography elective (3 credit hours)
2. General Education Requirement:
Freshman and sophomore years: complete General Education Curriculum required by the University as detailed on the four-year course of study, except the following department prescribed general education courses
