The concentration in Ethnic, Cultural, and Gender Studies provides students with a behavioral and social science background which better prepares them to engage in translational research and interdisciplinary studies among the behavioral and social science disciplines. This concentration would also benefit students in liberal arts as well as science and technology majors. Social and demographic constructs such as ethnicity, race, cultural perspectives, class, age, and gender impact both the provision of health care in diverse community settings and the creation and implementation of social and public policies related to health services and health disparities.

Course List (21 Credit Hours):
The Ethnic, Cultural, and Gender Studies concentration includes any seven of the nine courses listed below. These courses are drawn from sociology, public health education, political science, social work, psychology, criminal justice, and physical education and recreation.
