This concentration offers intense training for the student aiming for a career in acting. Focus is placed on the creation of a character and audition procedures through the development of performance techniques and skill. Students are mentored by performance faculty and individually coached for acting auditions, competitions, and graduate school admission.
1. 124 Semester Hours:
Complete a minimum of 124 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better. Student must successfully repeat ‘D’ and ‘F’ grades in major courses. The last 30 hours must be completed at NCCU.
2. General Education Requirement:
Freshman and sophomore years: complete General Education Curriculum required by the university as detailed on the four-year course of study. Students must have a ‘C’ or better in ENG 1110 and ENG 1210.
3. Program Requirements:
Non-departmental requirements (must have a grade of ‘C’ or better):
Students must audition and be accepted in this concentration by the second semester of their sophomore year.
Program Notes:
Each major must fulfill the following:
Audition for at least one show annually
(Performance concentration majors must audition for every show)
Work in a technical capacity for at least one show annually
Stage manage at least one show before graduating
Work with costume or make-up design for at least one show before graduating
