The NCCU-SLIS Certificate in Information Policy and Management is a 21-credit hour program of study that provides education and hands on training in data management, visualization and security. The curriculum includes coursework in Networks, Databases, Systems Analysis, Information Policy & the Information Society, and Network Security. By earning the Certificate in Information Policy and Management, students will develop those skills needed to analyze, evaluate and design systems to utilize data to develop stronger information management skills. Policymakers and managers must organize and process large quantities of unstructured data and analyze that data to make evidence-based decisions. Whether created by networks, organizations, individuals or devices, data today are generated at unprecedented levels. As data are organized and analyzed, information can be used to increase public safety and efficiency. From improving public health through rapid emergency response to fighting human trafficking, databases are being used to create solutions to myriad public policy problems: Evidence-based decision making is changing the environment in which we live and the businesses where we work. In 2017, Forbes Magazine predicted over $200 Billion dollars of investment on data analytics for business and industry.
