Curriculum Requirements
Mass Communication major, Journalism Concentration: Complete a minimum of 124 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better. The last 30 hours must be completed at NCCU. Students must also complete requirements in English (ENG) courses and Mass Communication (MSCM) courses with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Students must earn grades of C or better in the following courses: ENG 1110 , ENG 1210 , MSCM 1250 or MSCM 2200 , ENG 1500 , MSCM 2400 and MSCM 2440 in order to register for courses for which these courses are prerequisites. 1. General Education Requirement:
Freshman and sophomore years: Complete the General Education Curriculum in the Arts and Sciences Program as detailed in this catalog. ENG 1110 and ENG 1210 must be completed with a grade of C or better. Mass Communication majors must take MSCM 1250 or MSCM 2200 to meet the “speaking intensive” requirement of the General Education Curriculum. 2. Complete the following core English requirements:
