Mission Statement

The program is an inter-disciplinary undergraduate degree program at the intersections of computer science and business addressing the challenges of establishing and managing new and growing ventures.  This endeavor presents an example of NCCU’s commitment to inter-disciplinary learning.  The program focuses on the critical connections between technology, innovation, strategy and execution that are needed to move great ideas forward.

This program is meant for students who wish to gain a broad knowledge in the field of computing with an added depth in their chosen electives.  Students in this program, upon graduation, will be prepared to either enter the industry or pursue a graduate program.

Program Goals

Graduates of this program will:

1.  Apply their critical-thinking skills and technical and business acumen
     a.  in their professional careers
     b.  in pursuit of advanced degrees
     c.  for the ethical advancement of their organization’s communities and societies.
 
2.  Engage in life-long learning to adapt to continually changing computing technologies and business practices.
 
3.  Communicate and function effectively in collaborative multi-disciplinary team environments.
 

Program Learning Outcomes

1.  Apply computing principles, analytical skills, and technical knowledge to develop and implement computer solutions.

2.  Apply knowledge of business culture, policies and procedures to communicate with both technical and non-technical people from multiple domains and to work effectively in collaborative multi-disciplinary teams.

3.  Articulate computing and business ideas, processes and results through oral and written presentations.

4.  Apply computing and business knowledge and skills to solve problems of relevance to the local and global communities.

Department Courses Required

Core Courses.  Students must make a “C” or better in the following major courses:  CSB 2000, CSB 3000, CSB 4900 , and CSB 4910 COMP 1520 , COMP 1525 , COMP 2200 , COMP 2300 , COMP 2615 , COMP 2810 , COMP 3810 , and COMP 4850 CIS 2500 , CIS 2620, CIS 3440 , CIS 3520 , and CIS 4600 .

Electives.  Students must see academic advisor to choose electives.
