The Department of Environmental, Earth, and Geospatial Sciences (DEEGS) offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Environmental Science and Geography and a Master of Science degree in Earth Sciences. DEEGS provides curricula through which students develop the analytical and methodological skills necessary to understand the earth’s environment and man’s impact on the environment. The department provides continuous programs of research training for undergraduate, graduate, and non-traditional students in the academic disciplines covered by the department and prepares students for entry-level and mid-career positions as well as graduate education. Students pursuing the Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental and Geographical Sciences complete the General Education Curriculum (GEC), and interdisciplinary program core, a defined set of courses specific to one of three concentration choices, research or an internship in a governmental or private sector organization, and a selection of upper level topical electives, as outlined in this catalogue.
Students seeking a graduate degree in Earth Sciences should refer to the NCCU Graduate Catalog.
* The Environmental Science Program and the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences were combined into one department in 2006, and the degree programs merged to create the Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Geographic Sciences in 2015.
