The North Carolina Central University Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) program trains leaders in public service by enhancing their knowledge, skills, and abilities through scholarship and professional development with a global lens. We prepare students to serve effectively throughout governance and policy environments, upholding principles of ethical leadership, public accountability, and service to all communities.

The M.P.A. is a professional graduate degree that enables graduates to be effective public sector and nonprofit agency leaders. At NCCU, the M.P.A degree can be earned a 14-course, 42-credit hour program through the traditional weekday evening track, the hybrid executive track, or the all-online executive accelerated fast track. Students in executive tracks are in assigned cohorts and courses. The traditional track offers flexibility in studies and schedule, including elective concentrations in Law and Society, Human Resources, Non-profit Management, Public Health Policy and Urban and Regional Planning.

The MPA can also be completed as a dual-degree programs with the NCCU School of Law (for a J.D. and M.P.A. dual degree) and the NCCU School of Library and Information Sciences (for an M.P.A. and M.I.S. dual degree). Accelerated Bachelor to Masters partnerships exist with the Department of Political Science and Department of Public Health Education. The Public Administration Department also offers a 12-credit non-degree certificate in Non-Profit Management.
