HIST 3523 - Black Feminist and Feminist Thought (3) The purpose of this course is to examine the history of Black feminist theory and scholarship. The course will explore topical areas in Black feminist and feminist scholarship. It pays particular attention to theoretical perspectives that examine local, national, and international topics that include: the social construction of gender and sexuality; definitions of womanhood; the female body and the politics of representation; comparative feminisms; women’s culture; political and economic expressions; and women’s activism and participation in social transformation will be included.
