HEDU 4700 - Current Issues in Public Health (2) Each semester, this course will address a current public health problem of national and/or international significance (e.g., HIV/AIDS, health disparities, pandemic flu, obesity) from a multi-disciplinary perspective. The goals of the course are to foster an understanding of the complexity and multi-dimensionality of emerging public health phenomena and to explore those phenomena as paradigms for the relationship among health problems, society, and public responses to those problems. Faculty in the Department of Public Health Education will assume the major responsibilities for teaching the course. However, practitioners from other disciplines in both the public and nonprofit sectors will be invited as guest speakers.
