LSIS 5451 - Database Systems (3)

Pre- or Co-requisite: LSIS 5010  -  Information Systems in Organizations  . In this course, we will learn techniques and tools to perform two main activities: (1) how to use a database and (2) how to build a database to support the operations and data needs of an organization. Most of this course will focus on the classic relational model. Through hands-on case studies, this class will introduce students to the design of databases using entity-relationship modeling, normalization techniques, structured query languages (SQL), and integrating web interfaces to databases. The class culminates with a project; students will have the opportunity to design and build a database using the technical skills and knowledge learned throughout the course.
