ENG 1030 - Reading and Vocabulary (3) A reading and vocabulary course in which students improve their ability to comprehend newspapers, magazines, textbooks, and print and electronic research materials. This course focuses on understanding the logical relationships between ideas and determining the meaning of unknown vocabulary in context. Students will learn how to read material with greater fluency and speed, how to summarize more effectively, how to analyze claims and arguments, and how to organize a response paper. Prefixes, suffixes, Latin roots, synonyms, antonyms, cognates, and false cognates will be addressed.
