ENGG 5700 - Seminar in Modern African Literature (3) (Fall, even years). A study of the emergence and development of Anglophone African writing emphasizing the three main genres of literature – drama, prose fiction, and poetry – from the 1930s to the present. The course focuses on canonical figures such as Achebe, Soyinka, Ngugi, Nwapa, p’Bitek, Okigbo, Osundare, Clark and others.
