ENGG 5430 - Major Novels of the Nineteenth Century (3) (Fall). A detailed study of representative nineteenth-century novels which reflect the complexity and the transformation of the era in which they were written, including increased technological sophistication, the consolidation of global powers, the rise in religious uncertainty and skepticism, the growth of the middle class, and the cultural strictures of patriarchal hierarchy.
