EDEC 5641 - Methods for Teaching Students with Behavioral/Emotional Disabilities. (3) Prerequisites: EDEC 5151 or permission of instructor. This course is designed to prepare teachers to understand and teach students with behavior and emotional problems. Emphasis is placed on learning intervention strategies such as classroom and behavior management techniques, conflict resolution, social skills instruction, and life space intervention. Students will learn to collaborate with students with disabilities and their families in solving behavior problems through use of functional assessments, behavioral plans and IEPs.
