Curriculum Requirements


The concentration in Apparel Design includes course work in merchandising and apparel design, with supporting courses in art, business, and dramatic art. Students successfully completing this program pursue careers in buying, apparel and visual merchandising, retail sales and management, designing, and product development and also graduate/professional schools in the textiles and apparel field.

1. 125 Credit Hours:


Complete a minimum of 125 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better.  The last 30 hours must be completed at NCCU.  Students must repeat ‘D’ and ‘F’ grades in major courses.

2. General Education Requirement:


Freshmen and sophomore years:  complete General Education Curriculum  required by the University as detailed on the four-year course of study.

After having completed CLTX 3020  or CLTX 4410  students are required to develop a line/collection of garments and present in the annual fashion design competition.

Program Notes:


Students must complete and pass, with a ‘C’ or better, in all CLTX courses or will have to repeat.

It is strongly recommended that all freshmen and sophomore students contact the Area Coordinator before registering for any CLTX courses.

CLTX 3020 , CLTX 4410 , CLTX 4510 , and CLTX 4520  may be taken in any order.
