Political Science, Civic Engagement & Public Policy Concentration, B.A.

Curriculum Requirements

This concentration prepares students for graduate study and careers involving public sector employment at the national, state, county and local level, as well as with nongovernmental agencies.

1. 120 Credit Hours:

Complete a minimum of 120 credit hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better.  A ‘C’ or better must be earned in required courses within the major.  The last 30 hours must be completed at NCCU.  Students must repeat ‘D’ and ‘F’ grades in required courses in the major.

2. General Education Requirement:

Students must complete the General Education Curriculum  required by the university as detailed on the four-year course of study.  Students must have a ‘C’ or better in ENGL 1100 and ENGL 1200.

3. Program Requirements:

To earn a B.A. in political science, a student must successfully complete 39 hours of POLS courses, including seven required courses.  Four additional courses must be completed in a primary concentration, and two courses must be completed in a secondary concentration.

5. Additional Requirements

In addition to required classes in the major, and successful completion of four classes in a primary concentration, students must successfully complete two classes in a secondary concentration.
