Nursing - Traditional, B.S.N.


***All General Education Courses Must Be Completed Prior to Admission to Nursing***

Curriculum Requirements


This program is designed for student to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to function as professional nurses in a variety of health care settings. Throughout the curriculum the student will obtain competencies for professional nursing practice including critical thinking, decision making, communication, leadership, and high-tech procedures to respond to changing needs and environments in today’s health care settings. Nursing courses completed at other institutions are not accepted as transfer credits. Students who were not successful in other nursing programs are not eligible for admission to nursing at NCCU. A cumulative 3.2 is required for admission to nursing.

1. 124 Semester Hours:

2. General Education Requirement:


Freshman and sophomore years:  complete General Education Curriculum required by the university as detailed on the four-year course of study.  Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 in math/science courses.  All general education requirements must be complete prior to admission to the nursing program. 

4. Additional Requirements


Demonstrate proficiency on selected clinical skills and proficiency in the clinical settings.

Program Notes:


Students must complete all science required courses with a “C” or better prior to enrolling in nursing courses.  Students require a 3.2 Math and Science GPA or higher, with no more than 2 failures in math or science courses. At the third failure students are ineligible to apply to nursing. Math/Science courses must have been taken within 5 years prior to starting Nursing courses. Please refer to the Nursing Handbook for additional information and policies. 

 

Students cannot progress to the next level course until all prior level courses are complete
