Certificate in Special Education, Assistive Technology

Admission Requirements


Admission to the Assistive Technology for Visual Impairments program requires the candidate to have:

  1. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in the domain of Visual Impairments from a Nationally Accredited institution with at least a 2.7 undergraduate GPA, or a 3.0 graduate GPA.
  2. Two letters of recommendation,
  3. A personal interview with a member of the department.
  4. Official transcripts for all previous institutions must be submitted directly to NCCU.

Current students enrolled in other graduate programs are eligible for the certificate program.

Program Requirements


18 credit hours in the online program, including three core courses in the area of Assistive Technology for Visual Impairments, a course in Educational Technology, Adaptive Technology for Special Populations and a supervised internship.

Exit Requirements


Candidates will be required to complete a supervised internship and exit interview.
