Overview


Curriculum Requirements: The Graduate Certificate in Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) is housed in the Environmental, Earth and Geospatial Sciences Department and is open to all graduate students enrolled at NCCU. Students will enroll in and complete the 6 courses listed below. The main focus of this certificate is to provide opportunities for students at NCCU to master concepts related to GEOINT and to be introduced to the Intelligence Community and the role of GEOINT in intelligence gathering and applications. The graduate certificate adds to the employment opportunities for our graduate students by preparing them for an ever changing world. Students will work on topics and projects at the intersection of Environmental Science, Geospatial Techniques and Human Cultural techniques to be better prepared and informed analysts.

1. Semester Hours : 18


2. General Education Requirement:


Students seeking admission will complete and submit an application to Graduate Admissions for the Graduate Certificate in GEOINT

3. Program Requirements:


Admitted students will complete the following courses at NCCU. Students are allowed to transfer 50% of the courses into the certificate for a total of 3 courses or 9 credits.


EASC 5120 Digital Geographic Information Systems  

EASC 5110 Remote Sensing of Natural Resources  

EASC 5130 Applied Geospatial Statistics for the Earth Sciences  

EASC 5320 Programming and Logic for the Geosciences  

EASC 5050 Field Mapping  

EASC 5800 Internship  

4. Concentration Requirements


Maintain a 2.5 GPA in all the courses included in the certificate.

5. Additional Requirements:


To be admitted to NCCU as a graduate student in any department or as a non-degree seeking graduate student.

Four-Year Curriculum: Students can complete the courses concurrently while pursuing their graduate degree at NCCU
