Course Description:  The third course for biology majors and persons who will be taking upper-level courses in biology.  An in-depth study of the structure of cells, the physiology of cells, and molecular biology designed to convey basic knowledge about cells that will be needed as background for upper-level biology courses.  This is the first course of a two-course sequence in molecular and cell biology for majors.

 

BIOL 2220 - Molecular Biology of Cells II

Course Description:  This course is designed for students majoring in Biology and other life sciences majors.  It is the second semester of a two semester course.  BIOL 22XX consists of an in-depth study of the molecules of cells, structure of cells, and various processes cells carry out, with a focus on cell biology and the relationship of cell biology to human diseases.  The purpose of the course is to convey basic knowledge about molecular processes carried out in cells, in particular eukaryotic cells. The study of cell biology will be needed as background for upper-division Biology courses.

Course Description:  This course provides a background in threat group radicalization and recruitment tactics.  It also presents information on how to gather, categorize, and develop plans for intervening in the recruitment and radicalization of new members for threat groups within the confines of rural jails and prisons.  It focuses on rural correctional facilities as unique breeding grounds for threat group recruitment and radicalization, examines the processes by which recruitment and radicalization occur, and discusses methods for strengthening the information gathering and sharing process.

 

INDS 2000 - Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies

Course Description:  Learning about interdisciplinary studies involves self-assessment, self-reflection, goal setting, research, and articulation of knowledge.  This course will introduce students to the concepts, methods, and general knowledge of interdisciplinary study.  The course will address the various approaches to interdisciplinary studies and students will learn the fundamentals of interdisciplinary research as well as its more useful applications.  The course will be organized around a general subject designed by the instructor.  Emphasis is placed on the development of critical and analytical thinking skills, as well as written and oral communication.  In addition, students will be required to map a plan of study that considers preparation for career opportunities.

Course Description:  This course consists of lectures and computer laboratory activities.  It will cover all the basic aspects of pharmaceutical data sciences.  These include, but not limited to, data storage & retrieval, file format and databases, basic statistics, data visualization, multivariate data analysis, clustering, classification, regression, and computer scripting to handle big data.  Emphasis will be placed on hands-on activities.  No prerequisite in computer science and statistics is required.
